When mentioning the most popular Japanese animation / manga series, what comes to mind? Dragon Ball? Naruto? Doraemon? Apparently, the answer is One Piece. That’s a straw hat pirate!
One Piece has received an award from Guinness World Records for printing the most comic series by a single comic artist.
In 2015, One Piece books have sold 320,866,000 copies. That number continues to grow with the increasing number of One Piece series, which has now reached episode 897.
In One Piece, there are no completely serious characters. All thanks to the protagonist, Luffy, who managed to make the strongest opponents fall in love, runny nose, gaping, upset himself, and failed to understand.
Not because he was humorous, but indeed he did not understand when the right time to say or act. As the main character, he does not have high intelligence which makes people around him always panic.
The thing that really sets One Piece apart from other series is its philosophy. In essence, this series has a main core in the form of ‘dreams’. The One Piece story begins when the Pirate King announces the location of the world’s largest treasure before the death sentence.
