Basketball is a group ball sport consisting of two teams of five people each. The two teams compete with each other to score points by putting the ball into the opponent’s basket as much as possible.
The sport is very popular in the United States and residents in other parts of the world, such as Southern Europe, Lithuania. Many basketball competitions are held every year, such as the British Basketball League (BBL) in England, the National Basketball Association (NBA) in America, to the Indonesian Basketball League (IBL).
Basketball can be played on an open court (outdoor) or a closed room (indoor). The international standard for basketball is four innings, each half being 10 minutes (4×10 minutes), with a 10-minute break.
However, specifically for the NBA, it’s different. The competition uses a format of 12 minutes per half (4×12 minutes).
A player must really master the basic techniques of basketball in order to compete in a tournament. Basic basketball techniques include holding the ball, dribbling, passing, pivoting, shooting, rebounding, and slam dunks.
The size of the basketball court according to FIBA standards is 28 meters long and 15 meters wide. While in the NBA, the size of the field is 18.7 meters long and 15.2 meters wide. Namely basketball hoop has a length of 0.40 meters. While the distance of the support poles to the finish line is 1 meter.
